I ran PVR before nipping out (to D/L whilst I'm out) and am getting the
following error message

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Running PVR Searches:
INFO: PVR Run: '_Arena_name_tv_radio'
ERROR: Programme type '' does not exist
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

At which point PVR crashes

I get the same error attempting to D/L by selecting Record direct from
the PVR, and also from the CLI (despite specifying the type)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
YES I know that Arena's an old show, but there are some occasional
repeats that are worth watching
Running Win 10-64   and    get_iplayer Web PVR Manager 3.06.0
Everything was working yesterday morning, so I'm suspecting a corruption
in a file somewhere - has anybody encountered something similar?
Hi Tony
I'm assuming you have a complete cache for the past month, in which case
I can tell you that Arena has not been broadcast in that time. Hence the
PVR will not pick up any old programmes broadcast before that period,
nor will:
get_iplayer --get "Arena"
The only way is to go to the programme page at
https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episodes/b006pn88 - there you need to
determine the PID for each programme individually. As we speak I am
successfully downloading the first programme on that page "Into the
limelight - Tribute bands". I was lazy and didn't bother to separate out
the PID from the URL, so my command was
get_iplayer --pid
https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b0081h5z/arena-into-the-limelight-tribute-bands
The way I got the URL for that programme was by right clicking on the
title of the show "Into the limelight - Tribute bands" and then clicking
on "copy link location" (in the case of the Firefox browser).
You will find that every other programme on that page can be downloaded
this way.  No doubt there will be a way to scrape the programme page for
PIDs, but I'm not a programmer, so I haven't a clue how to do that - I
just do things manually as the need arises.
Incidentally, --type TV is superfluous for TV programmes.
Best wishes
Alan
No, I understand that there has been no "Arena" in the last month ... at
that point PVR took a shit and crapped out with
ERROR: Programme type '' does not exist
Not the programme - but the programme "type"
Having come back from the pub - normal service appears to have been resumed
ERROR: Programme type '' does not exist
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The error message is not telling you Arena does not exist. It is saying a
programme type of an unmatched double quote does not exist. Check your
preferences.
get_iplayer --prefs-show

Are any other downloads failing?

Try adding --test to your command line. That will show you what get_iplayer
thinks the type is.

Also add --verbose to the command line. It will help pinpoint where it is
going wrong.

Best wishes
Richard
